This stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship has a tenure normally of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third in exceptional circumstances. Junior Research Fellowships are initial (normally) post-doctoral positions appropriate to the start of an academic career. Applications will open in October 2015 and close in November; the post is expected to be filled from 1 October 2016.
The Bodossakis Fellowship was endowed in 1973 by the Greek industrialist Bodossakis Athanassiadis (1890-1979). It is open to researchers in the following fields:
- Contemporary Greek History
- British Foreign Policy in the Eastern Mediterranean
- The Eastern Question during the 19th and 20th Centuries
- Any other historical subject connected with the writings, ideas, views, or policies of Sir Winston Churchill associated or connected with Greece or the above geographical area
- Comparative Law
- European Union Law and Institutions
The Fellowship is otherwise offered on the same terms and conditions as other Churchill College Junior Research Fellowships, and the application procedure is the same as others in the Cambridge Intercollegiate Junior Research Fellowships Scheme. Prospective candidates should consult the College website for these particulars.
Previous holders of the Fellowship have gone on to university careers in modern British, Greek, and European history; international law, comparative legal history; and social and political sciences. Holders have included British, Greek, German, and Dutch nationals.
