Sokratis Niaros holds a degree in Greek Philology from the University of Ioannina, Greece, as well as an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Modern Greek Literature from the same University, with a doctoral thesis on “The Institution of Literary Awards in Greece (1910-1941)”. In 2013, during the process of his research for the elaboration of his doctoral thesis, S. Niaros was invited to participate in the Fifth International Graduate Student Conference in Modern Greek Studies, which was organized and hosted by the Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies, Princeton University, U.S.A. His scientific activity of the last decade consists of publications, participation in research programs, conferences and seminars and teaching activities. His research interests focus on Modern Greek literary and book/publishing history (1900-1940), literary criticism, digital humanities, sociology of literature, cultural institutions, and cultural policies.
