MGSA Symposium in Sacramento, California
Τhe MGSA’s 26th biennial Symposium will be held at the California State University, Sacramento, on November 7-10, 2019. Katerina Lagos, Professor of History and Director of the CSUS Hellenic Studies Program, will host the event and chair the Local Arrangements Committee.
The Symposium is organized by Modern Greek Studies Association Executive Board, the Program Committee, and the Local Arrangements Committee.
The Program Committee is now accepting abstracts for 20-minute individual papers, panels (of up to four 20-minute papers), and special sessions. Submissions from all disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts and from interdisciplinary fields are welcome; comparative perspectives are encouraged.
Proposals may concern any aspect of Greek Studies, Greece, the Greek Diaspora, and Cyprus in early modern and modern times. The Program Committee welcomes paper and panel proposals from all Social Science, Arts, and Humanities disciplines, and submissions on the following topics would be particularly welcome:
- The Greek crisis: multidisciplinary perspectives
- Greek Linguistics and Language Pedagogy
- Democracy and authoritarianism
- The refugee issue in multiple contexts
- Greek America, the diaspora, and Greek transnational worlds
Acceptances and rejections of individual abstracts and panels will be announced by March 15, 2019. Organizers of special sessions are notified of the PC’s decision by May 1, 2019.
